Eponymy is a one-of-a-kind cleverly curated boutique -- part clothing store, part gallery, part curiosity shop. Eponymy is basically a fancy way to say that a place, a discovery, an era -- anything really -- takes its name from the name of a person -- either fictitious or real. The idea behind Eponymy is that the customer could create his or her own discovery, era or style -- that the shop would take its name from the customer, not the other way around. Owner Andrea Miller, carefully hand-selects wardrobe staples from modern lines (Mike&Chris, Kaylee Tankus, Iodice, Vivienne Westwood Anglomania) and mingles them with signature vintage pieces (like cropped tweed jackets from Chanel), and designer resale statements (Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Karl Lagerfeld. In addition, almost everything in the store is for sale including carefully curated art from both emerging and more established artists. Miller finds -- in cooperation with the Humble Arts Foundation -- photographs, prints and original works on paper. The shopping experience is fun (Miller is funny) effortless and personalized.
"I purchased a wonderful yellow hat from your shop last week. I wore it home and heads turned. I'm going to Burning Man in August and I plan to wear it everyday. Thank you for opening your shop in Park Slope and sharing your dream. I wish you much success.
